Plastic Injection Moulding Tool Making
Getting your injection moulding tooling right first time is very important as mistakes can be costly to put right.
Here at Daneplast we are experienced in the production of aluminium or steel mould tools which are delivered to the tightest deadlines. The question most asked by our customers regarding tooling is should they opt for hardened steel or aluminium as a base material for their injection mould tool.
This decision is normally based on many factors but an overview of the differences is shown below:

Aluminium Injection Moulding Tooling:

  • Typically produced in shorter lead times than steel
  • Softer material such as aluminium is easier and quicker to work with and is significantly more cost effective to produce than fully hardened steel tooling
  • Depending on the complexities of the tool, can be good for up to 100,000 shots off

Steel Injection Moulding Tooling:

  • Steel tools take longer and are more expensive to produce
  • Harder materials means the tools last significantly longer than aluminium
  • Whether you require a single cavity steel tool for short runs or a multi-cavity fully hardened steel tool for longer runs, you can be confident that our experienced toolmaking technicians will be able to advise you on which will best suit your requirements and specifications
